Leah Darby, Maid of Honor- Simply put, Leah is my little sister. The bond between sisters is unbreakable, and I couldn't imagine my special day without her by my side. Many people think I'm the younger sister, and rightfully so. Leah consistently provides me with guidance, direction and wisdom and loves me unconditionally. For that, I am forever grateful, and I'm so excited that she will be my maid of honor when I marry my best friend. Thank you for being the most amazing little sister that a girl could pray for, and just know that I can never repay you for the love and happiness you bring to my life everyday.
Raaechael Santizo, Matron of Honor-Raaechael is my soon to be sister-in-law, and since the day we first Skyped when I lived in Oklahoma years ago, we clicked. She helps to keep me calm, give me advice, and serves as a constant voice of reason in my life. Raaechael has seen the development of my relationship with Rich over the years, and it is an honor to have her supporting me and standing by my side on the big day. God has truly blessed me with another sister who I love to pieces. I can't wait for us to grow old together, as I continue to do "the most" and she continues to calm me down. :) I've truly been blessed with an amazing family and the sweetest and most loving sister-in-law ever.
Avanti Dorsey- Avanti and I met more than 15 years ago in middle school. We instantly became best friends, and shared countless laughs, tears and memories throughout middle school and high school. From cheerleading to proms and graduations, we've been connected at the hip. In high school, people even referred to us as "Sharvanti" because we were always together. Despite the fact that she attended that other HU (Howard) and I attended the real HU (Hampton), we remained close and connected. I am elated for you to be a part of my bridal party!
Bianka Strong- Bianka and I met almost 8 years ago at Hampton University. From the student leadership program to the ups and downs of life, Bianka and I have truly become family over the years. She's always been my biggest cheerleader and I've always valued the fact that she will go to the ends of the earth for her friends. We've seen each other grow as women, helped one another in good times and bad, and prayed for one another everyday. I couldn't imagine getting married without the love and support of Bianka, and I'm so glad she will be there to witness this moment.
Jacqueline Flowers- Jackie and I met sophomore year working for the radio station at Hampton University, and we've truly developed a sister relationship over the years. She is my prayer partner, spiritual advisor, and motivator, but most importantly she is one of my best friends. Through the joyous moments, challenges, and unpredictability of life, Jackie has never left my side, so it was only right that she was there to witness the moment Rich asked me to spend forever with him. And I couldn't have my most supportive sisters and friends at my side, without Jackie being front and center. I am forever grateful for the impact you've had on my life and look forward to the day when we are 90 and still going strong.
Kristen Jones- Kristen is my soon to be sister-in-law, an awesome mother, and an amazing wife. When we thought about the importance of our special day and the people we would want standing by our side, we were reminded of the importance of family. Family will be by your side through thick and thin, ups and downs, good and bad. And we know that family will always be there to help support our union. Kristen is the epitome of family and someone who loves and cares about those near and dear to her heart. I'm excited to have Kristen supporting me as I marry Rich and look forward to officially calling her my sister.
Lauren Legette- The best way to sum up Lauren is my honorary "little sister" in every sense of the word. Though we aren't related by blood, from the moment I met Lauren at Hampton University she had an undeniable impact on my life. Despite distance, careers, and life, Lauren has never stopped celebrating my special moments with me. From Hampton, DST, the moment she met Rich at a bar in Maryland, and the day I called her and exclaimed "I'm engaged"- Lauren and I have shared many tears, many special occasions, and many happy moments. As I thought about the group of women who would never leave my side and support me for decades to come, I knew Lauren was undoubtedly on that list. Thank you for being you, Lauren, and for loving and supporting me over the years.
Miah Cliatt- Miah and I met more than four years ago at AT&T in Atlanta, and though we no longer work together, she has continued to be an amazing friend and supporter. I know that when I need advice, a shoulder to lean on, or someone to vent to, Miah is just a call, a text, or a pre-planned lunch date away. It's amazing how God brings people into your life at just the right moment, and he certainly favored me when he introduced me to Miah. We've grown from recent college grads to strong women of God together. We've helped push one another through the trials and achievements of the professional world and motivate one another to be the best that we can be. Miah, you inspire me everyday and show me how to take the world by storm with such class, grace, and wisdom. As I stood by your side in Jamaica when you married Markeith, I knew that I couldn't wait to return the favor when God brought me my husband. Well, the time is here, and I'm excited to share this journey with you.
Rayanna Santizo, Jr. Bridesmaid- Rayanna is my soon to be niece, and such a joy to my life. Over the past few years, I've seen her grow and mature into the beautiful little girl she is today. At such a young age, she is full of so much love, happiness, and charisma and puts a smile on the face of everyone she meets. Rich and I are so excited about watching Rayanna grow and the amazing impact she will have on the world. I love you with all of my heart, Rayanna, and I am so excited to be your Aunt.
Adrienne and Stacie are my first cousins, but I definitely love them like my big sisters. They've been there to see me grow from a little girl to a woman, loved me unconditionally, and have been the true definition of family. I trust my cousins and love them both with all of my heart, so I knew it would be an honor to have them supporting me on my big day. Thank you both for the impact you've had in my life and for serving as constant role models as I grew into the woman I am today.
